Andrei TorrianiChief Marketing Officer Telefonica O2 A seasoned telephony executive with extensive experience in leading successful wireless and wireline telecom operations, Andrei leads Telefonica O2’s marketing operations in the acquisition development and retention of customers with the company’s leading portfolio of wireless and wireline voice, broadband and content communications services. With P&L responsibility in excess of USD 2 Billion, Andrei’s responsibilities include Segment Marketing, Product Management, MarCom operations, Channel Marketing and Roaming. Since joining in January 2005, Andrei served as Chief Commercial Officer of the company’s mobile communications business ( formerly known as Eurotel ) until July 2006 and led a turnaround in market share and financial performance resulting in the operator’s best new customer acquisition and retention activities in its 14 year history. His responsibilities in this role included mobile communications P&L in excess of USD 1.3 Billion and over 1250 staff in acquisition, retention and revenue development activities including 85 retail shops, a distribution network of over 600 points of sale and 2 call centers. Additionally, Andrei played a key role in the privatization of the Czech Telecom Group ( Eurotel’s parent company) resulting in transfer of control and sale to Telefonica in June of over 51 percent of the company for more than Euro 3.1 Billion (USD 3.7 Billion) and led the introduction of the markets first ‘fixed-mobile’ converged broadband offerings under “Internet Everywhere” in April 2005. Prior to his current roles, Andrei has served in leading commercial and marketing roles in telecom operators worldwide. From 2001 – 2005 Andrei played roles as Wataniya (National) Telecom’s Chief Product Development & Technology Strategy Officer and as Wataniya Telecom’s Executive Marketing Director overseeing all international group activities serving over 3 million customers in the Middle East. From 1998 – 2001, he served as Vice President in charge of Metromedia International’s portfolio of wireless and international gateway operations in Eastern Europe, where he directed on a board level the development of five GSM operators with overall P&L performance and network investment responsibilities. Andrei’s career also includes several senior executive management roles with Millicom ( Luxembourg), where he established a track record of turning around and improving the commercial performance of several wireless operators in Asia and Latin America. Andrei holds an MBA in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management, a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics and International Trade from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, USA, and is currently pursuing completion of a Masters of Science in Telecommunications (MS) from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado USA.
