Hakan Akbas is the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development of Sabanci Holding in Turkey. Mr. Akbas is also the Chairman of Yunsa and Boissa responsible for a $400 million P&L worldwide.

Mr. Akbas is a visionary leader with proven track record in executive management, marketing and new business development in the US, Europe, China, Turkey and the Middle East. He has hands-on experience in taking a high tech Fortune 100 firm from hardware selling to services and solutions selling. His broad industry and investment experience includes power generation (hydro, gas, nuclear), alternative energy & renewables (solar, wind, geothermal, biomass), retailing, office products, printing, enterprise software, IT/outsourcing, cement and textiles. As Executive Vice President, his responsibilities encompass corporate strategic planning, portfolio management, corporate development (inc. M&As, JVs, divestitures, alliances), marketing strategy and information communication technology.

Before joining Sabanci Holding, Mr. Akbas was the Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer of EMC (Document Sciences) in the US. Hakan spearheaded global marketing and multi-channel go-to-market strategy including corporate rebranding, market segmentation and positioning initiatives with product/solution launches resulting in 26% sales increase year-over-year and subsequent acquisition by EMC. Previously, Hakan held progressive executive positions in marketing, strategic planning and new business development at Bausch & Lomb, Xerox Corporation and Accenture in the US. Lastly, he was working as Managing Director of Business Development at Xerox Global Services - a $2.5 billion provider of consulting and outsourcing services since its formation, heading up offering development and marketing activities on a worldwide basis.

Mr. Akbas received a BSc degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from Simon School of Business in Rochester, NY. Hakan currently serves as member of Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association, American Marketing Association, Galatasary Soccer Club and as supervisory board member of Endeavor Global, Temsa Global, Inovent Ventures, Olmuksa, Bimsa. Mr. Akbas speaks fluent English and French.
