Todd G. Shipley is president and CEO of Reno, Nev.-based Vere Software, Inc., which specializes in the legally defensible documentation of Internet-based evidence.
A Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Forensic Computer Examiner, Mr. Shipley served for 25 years in the Reno Police Department, including as a senior detective sergeant overseeing the agency's Financial and Computer Crimes Unit. His duties included investigating serious financial offenses; developing cyber and technology crime investigative policy; and working as a liaison to other law enforcement, intelligence, and government agencies and industry bodies.
Previously, he had worked as a detective for nine years, first investigating major property and person crimes, then assigned to the U.S. Attorney's Office Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.
Prior to founding Vere Software, Mr. Shipley was Director of Systems Security and High Tech Crime Prevention Training—and manager of the National Criminal Justice Computer Laboratory and Training Center—for SEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics.
