Direct marketing also saw its budget rise, by 116 percent. This year it has been allocated an additional $1.4 million, bringing the total to $2.7 million.
Sports marketing accounts for $1 million of the increase.
The Sales team has also seen its budget slashed 42 percent, it was allocated $1.4 million this year.
The advertising's budget jumped 71 percent and was allocated $14.56 million, up from $12.6 million.
The South African Tourism Department is bullish that by 2012, the number of tourists from India will double to 100,000.
They also added that on an average, a tourist from India spends around Rs 80,000 for spending 7-10 days in South Africa.
As part of its promotional activities, the department is planning to intensify its marketing spend in India.
This segment rose 50 per cent year-on-year and more corporates are now looking at South Africa as an incentive package for their performers including employees and dealers.
The country had entered five years earlier and the tourist arrivals of 52,637 till October 2009 compared to 44,578 in October 2008, an increase of 18.1 per cent. By 2012 the number of tourist from India will cross 100,000.
Social media is growing increasingly important in online advertising campaigns, with 72% of marketers planning to invest in the sector this year, according to a survey from the Marketing Executives Networking Group.
