Mathew Hayward has been a nomadic marketing and creative professional since he left his home shores of New Zealand over 20 years ago. His career is unique in its reach across industries, from Consumer Electronics to Jewelry, Entertainment to Action Sports, Luxury Watches to Footwear and Apparel, Trends Research to Luxury Retail. Mixed with roles across various genres across a more traditional marketing capacity including research, trade and retail, strategy and insights, digital and eCommerce, business development, creative development, PR, product design, advertising and much more - a potpourri as such. Upon graduation at an early age, Mathew moved to Singapore where he worked in a regional role for one of the world's largest consumer product telecoms brands at that time - Ericsson - across 16 countries. Starting with a role in Market Research, saw him venture into China in early 1997 and all markets between India and New Zealand. Additional roles across Advertising, PR, Trade & Retail saw him end an early run in APAC as the Regional Marketing Director. In 2001 he relocated to Europe to take up the role as the Global Creative Director for newly formed Sony Ericsson, and lived between London, Sweden and Singapore for a while. His next move took him to Tokyo Japan where he worked for a Youth Marketing and Trends Research Agency – part of the Aegis Network, as Managing Director.After 2 1/2 years in Japan working across clients that included Levi's, MTV, Heinekin, Lee, Calvin Klein and many others, Mathew moved down under to assume a newly minted role as the Asia Pacific Regional Marketing Director for DC Shoes. After a short 6 month stint in this role based in Sydney Australia, living on the shores of Coogee Beach, he was promoted to become the Global Vice President of Marketing and Creative Director for DC Shoes, shortly after it's acquisition by Quiksilver. In 2008 Mathew returned to Asia, residing in Hong Kong to build his own Brand & Marketing Consultancy. During this time he built a Street Style Gold & Diamond Jewelry brand with five of his close friends, spent time as consulting Creative Director for Leo Burnet across P&G and Coca Cola, and prior to his first role at Deckers as a Consulting Director in Asia's premiere luxury lifestyle retailer Lane Crawford. Here he focused on development projects for China, re-envisioning the CRM department and strategy, and overall marketing strategy. In 2012 he joined Sanuk - a 'happy return' to an industry he loves and is passionate about, but with a different perspective. After almost 2 years developing the brand and business across Asia Pacific, he has recently taken on a role that returns him to his sweet spot – focusing on Marketing, Strategy, Insights and Creative for Deckers Brands Asia Pacific across all brands in the portfolio, as the Regional Head of Marketing - Omni–Channel for Deckers Brands Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong. The portfolio includes UGG Australia, Hoka One One, Sanuk and Teva.
