CMO Council Launches Online Talent Sourcing Center for Members

The new center provides professional opportunities and assists much-needed sourcing of new skills and competencies in global marketing groups.

Palo Alto, CA (May 21, 2008) —The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council has launched a new discrete and trusted Talent Sourcing Center to help its members identify, recruit and evaluate new resources and opportunities.

Hosted on the CMO Council website at http://talent.cmocouncil.org, the Talent Sourcing Center will serve as a resource bank to provision new skills, capabilities and functional specialists for global marketing organizations. The online opportunity portal is designed for marketing decision makers who are looking to explore new situations and executives who are looking to fill vital marketing and communications positions.

According to the CMO Council's 2008 Marketing Outlook report, nearly 45 percent of marketers say building new competencies and capabilities in their organization is a top priority. Specific to their own personal development, 26 percent of marketing executives are looking to upgrade their title or area of responsibility, while 15 percent are looking for a new position outside their organization. The CMO Council's addition of talent sourcing and resource acquisition services online will allow senior marketers to achieve their professional and personal goals, while reducing the time and difficulty associated with sourcing, training, activating and retaining new recruits.

"Given the high turnover of CMOs and dearth of proficiencies in database marketing, customer analytics, strategic planning, digital media and demand generation, the new center should be of real value to members," said CMO Council Executive Director Donovan Neale-May. "With numerous reports on the tenuous role of the CMO, we are looking to provide resources that connect the right talent with the right opportunity while promoting the true, and expanded, role of a chief marketing officer."

With a highly qualified membership base of over 3,500 chief marketing executives in 57 countries, the CMO Council, will open its Talent Sourcing Center to marketers at all levels enabling them to bring their backgrounds to the attention of these top marketing decision makers.

This readily accessible online center allows users to:

  • Track available opportunities open to senior marketing decision makers

  • Create online profiles to help manage professional profiles, create job alerts, and search for positions that match backgrounds and aspirations

  • Post anonymous professional profiles that can be searched by executive recruiters and search agents who are looking to identify qualified senior candidates

  • Discretely respond to interesting opportunities that match individual career growth goals

Corporate recruiters and executive search firms will have an opportunity to post available positions and search for qualified candidates from within the registered talent pool. Within the first 24 hours of the beta-launch of the site, over 200 candidates searched the opportunities already available on the site.

"We see talent sourcing as one of the most significant challenges facing today's CMO. In addition, the recruitment of strong marketing leaders who are effective change agents has become a critical imperative for enterprises of all sizes," added Neale-May.
