Akira Mitsumasu has been with Japan Airlines for more than 25 years. He is currently the Vp of Global Marketing, creating exceptional customer experience and communicating JAL's unique offering through marketing activities. He previously acted as Vice President of Products and Services in which he was responsible for managing and innovating the customer experience, Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for JAL’s Asian and Oceania Region, where he developed marketing strategies, benchmarked industry best practices and explored new business opportunities. His passion for his work extends beyond his office as he is a voracious researcher on business-related issues and has recently published a book, titled Control and Coordination of Subsidiaries in Japanese Corporate Groups. His philanthropy work includes working with the Holy Land Institute for the Deaf in Jordan. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a DBA from Hitotsubashi University in Japan.

 Among his achievements, Mitsumasu has been recognized as Asia’s Best Marketer 2016 by CMO Asia; he was named among the Greatest Marketing Influencers 2016 by BBC Knowledge and among the 50 Most Influential Global Marketing Leaders by World Marketing Congress; and he was voted Best Leader in Marketing Strategy 2016 by Global Brands magazine.
